There has been a lot of activity recently in the Freesat world, with a new director being appointed, another radio station being added, and a further channel being launched.

James Strickland has recently been appointed as Director of Project and Technology Development. He has experience in this field having been IPTV(Internet Protocol television) Business Developer for Europe and Emerging Markets for CISCO, and has worked for both OpenTV and PACE micro technologies, two major software providers for satellite boxes. Having worked for one of the biggest network providers on such a new technology(IPTV), James Strickland is the ideal person to join the freesat fold.

There have also been a new radio station launched on the Freesat network. WRN Radio is a new radio channel broadcast on channel 728. It delivers items on news, business and culture, and delivers unrivalled content

France 24 has been launched on channel 205 and broadcast worlwide news from a french perspective. Launched back in December 2006, France 24 was the first 24/7 French language news channel, and is now broadcast in French, English and Arabic. The channel is broadcast on satellite as well as cable and over the internet.
