With the internet being such an important marketing tool for your company, you will need to take advantage of all available tools we offer to make sure that you are number one in the search engine ranking. Here are some hints and tips that you can use to improve your search engine rankings.
Page Title
This text is what is displayed in your browsers title bar when the page is loaded and is essential for optimising your page.
Page Content
This is one of the major areas that will affect your search engine rank. Here are some hints on how to make sure your main page content is optimised
-
Use the relevant style for the text you are typing. If you are inputting text, make sure that you're main title is of type "Heading 1" and subtitles are of type "Heading 2". Any normal text should be in paragraphs.
-
Make any keywords in the text bold. Any words which you think are important in the text, make them bold by highlighting them and then hitting the "B" button to make the text bold.
-
Create links between pages. Creating links between pages makes it easier for visitors to navigate your site and find the information that they are looking for.
-
Add a title to all your links. When creating your link, add a short description of the text in the "Title" box. This not only helps search engine optimisation but improves the accessibility of your site.
-
Add a Name and Description to all your images. This not only makes it easier for you to find your image after you've uploaded it, but also makes your site accessible, and easier to index in a search engine.
Keywords
Keywords are critical for search engine optimisation. These words and phrases seperated by commas are what words you would like the search engine to index your site against. You should include main keywords and phrases from the content, and never have a phrase of more than 3 words. You should aim for about 15-20 keywords on each page.
Description
Your page Description is read by search engines and can be used as the extract of your page on a search engine such as google. The Description should give a brief outline of what s on the page, whilst including keywords and phrases from your keywords section and from the title of the page.
