freesat was formally established in May 2007 as a joint venture between the main terestial broadcasters BBC and ITV. So while it is a brand new service, the key partners and content providers have been around for a ages. In fact the new organisation is a not-for-profit company owned by the nation’s two most popular broadcasters.
