Local Welsh firm VSI-thinking has launched a website take-back scheme offering money off new websites in part-exchange for an old one. Businesses that bring their old website to VSI are now being offered up to £1,000 off the cost of the design of a new site. In a bid to mirror the government’s initiative involving car scrappage the company have decided to scrap all websites in return for a more user friendly alternative.
VSI-thinking will be taking websites and holding the information on back-up, before then transferring the content to the redesigned and redeveloped website. The company is also setting up 301 directs for old pages, essential for search engines like Google and Bing. In fact, the entire redevelopment of the website will be centred on search engine optimisation to improve company’s performance in search engines. With an integrated content management system to ensure customers don’t let the web site get out of date again.
The offer will run up until the 6th August which marks the anniversary of the first website ever on the internet. Created by Berners-Lee in 1991, the website Info.cern.ch provided information regarding the WWW project. Teaching visitors about hypertext; along with technical details for creating websites; and even explaining how to search the Web for information.
VSI-thinking aim to help reduce the mounting problem of poorly designed and search engine unfriendly websites, they are even accepting websites that are considered unusable. Managing Director, Mr Thomas said, “We are helping to keep Wales ahead of the UK competition, which is the largest online market place in Europe.”
