Having demonstrated why it’s important, now let’s find out how we use Google to our advantage. Google can be a cruel mistress when you try to fool it so it is best not to try to be too fancy (we’ll talk about those tricks later). But for now we’ll stick to the basics of what is called search engine optimisation.
It’s common sense, if your name’s Sidorov Petrov people won’t expect you to be a traditional French cuisine chef; if your name’s Keiko Namagashi people won’t guess that in your spare time you enjoy collecting and selling US sitcom memorabilia for small profit. So why not be Mr. Pierre Blanc, Miss. Barbie Montana?
Back in the real world, if your company specialises in management training in Cardiff why simply have the domain name XYZltd.com. Some analysis on Google by us will find the most appropriate key words and domain name to register for your website. Bristol Serviced Lets, for example, came to us hoping to target internet users searching for Bristol apartments, we soon found that the term ‘lets’ was more apt than ‘apartments’ and targeted as such. They now appear top of page 1 when searching ‘Bristol serviced lettings’ or ‘Bristol serviced lets’.
