In celebration of VSI-thinking’s 12th birthday we look back at the highlights, first looking at how VSI-thinking became travel industry website specialists.
VSI-thinking’s first travel related project was for Sunworld Sailing in 1998, and it’s second for Neilson Ski which happened to merge with its sister company Sunworld. Worth note is that Neilson is the company’s longest standing customer of 12 years.
As a result of the work undertaken for Neilson’s the travel company Thomas Cook approached VSI-thinking. Leading to the companies working on numerous projects together, including: An overseas Extranet; worldwide inventory management and stock control system, customer survey questionnaire processing for many of the brands, speciality brand web sites, call centre applications; a marketing database; amongst many others! As a result VSI-thinking was involved in saving the company over £1,000,000 in the year 05-06, and significant savings thereafter.
Skipping to 2003 and AVIS have also approached the company to provide them a solution to managing their third party call centres. Providing third party companies information and incentives to sell AVIS products using a number of affiliate sites.
Next in the timeline, Ski Safari approached the company in 2005. The company wanted three web sites: one for Ski Safari itself, as well as two another’s for Extras and Property. The Extras website has been a great success quadrupling in revenue over 4 years! The site allowed customers to buy Ski Safari products (i.e. boots) even if they couldn’t afford the actual holiday.
In the same year, VSI-thinking won the contract to develop the Celtic Manor Resort and have been working with them ever since. Along with the main resort website, also developing the Crown, Wales Open, and Christmas websites. The close working relationship between the two has allowed VSI-thinking to further improve the sites efficiencies also integrating in house systems. These include developing an integrated reservation system, an eCommerce pro-shop, brochure fulfilment, marketing database integration, and online tee time booking, amongst much more. With the Resort hosting the Ryder Cup this year these are exciting times!
