The use of Microsoft's Internet Explorer web browser is slowing dropping and it now enables a little under half of the world's total internet use, which combines desktop and mobile web use. That's a massive drop from the 95% of the browser market which it held seven years ago.

Many purchasers of new smartphones are now opting for Google's Android operating system over Apple's iOS. A recent Nielsen survey has shown that in the months leading up to August 56% of American buyers chose an Android handset; 28% of buyers chose an iPhone running iOS.
